To be honest, every title natively supporting the Omni I have tried did not accept Oculus touch, so you are stuck with GUN FACE so to speak with an xbox controller. In those instances I just turned the cameras around to avoid the positional tracking all together to get the best results. i also own a vive, and it is apparent they wrote the software to be compatible with it, as it just works with the controllers, no funky positional tracking issues. I have since attached the Oculus to a separate computer and use it for multiplayer VR games in the house, using the Vive exclusively with the Omni. If you have a specific title in mind I can experiment with both and give my 2 cents if you would like.
As a side, I found ceiling mounting the two cameras in opposing corners with usb 3.0 extensions gave me excellent coverage of a 15 ft x 15 ft play area. Again, this was NOT while using the Omni however, but was the ideal array for room scale. It actually worked so well I decided not to buy extra cameras.
Thanks for the info, so I guess the Oculus touch controllers do not work with the Omni. That seems like a huge let down. Has anyone gotten Robo recall with Locomotion to work on the Omni with the Oculus and touch controllers? Seems like games like that would be perfect for the Omni.
I just received notification and my order is ready to ship but I am bummed and don't know what to do. They no longer support the Rift which is what I have and they no longer support consumers only commercial. I am so crossed I'm just going to sit and think about it unless someone has any hopeful information about any kind of support either Rift or just ANY support if I receive it. It sucks I waited 3-1/2 years and come to find out they made these major changes.
Your concerns are valid, yet I would be very surprised if they don't start supporting the rift more. Oculus is now going to become the VR leader, given the summer sale that has occurred. The Vive will die unless they drop that price, and HTC has not been doing well financially. Does the OMNI support the PSVR?
Opposite one of your front cameras no more than 14ft away. I actually have my "front cameras" to the left of me because it was optimal for my space. It doesn't really matter expect during setup it can be confusing because you have to lie about the direction and so tracing boundaries is wonky.
I was just thinking of installing all three cameras on the ceiling in an equilateral format, each around the Omni. Considering that the Omni is a 360-degree system, I'm confused at why this wouldn't work.
It will work great like that. I positioned mine so that it works well in the OMNI or a recliner near by. The third sensor is pointed at the recliner, and one of the front ones hits the recliner on the edge of it's boundary.
I’ll work to get a pic of my setup next week, but it’s not really inspiring. It’s just two sensors almost 180 degrees from each other (probability like 150) on either side. I like the ceiling mount idea actually.

I found this link before and it is causing more confusion, wanted to get things straightened out before I started Drilling in the ceiling.
